History
In terms of years, TKF Showpigs is relatively new to the showpig industry. In the fall of 1999, we purchased the Hampshire and Duroc sows from Jim Elliott. The Tom Kurtenbach Family’s love of showing pigs, breeding quality breeding stock and the pork industry in general started long before that. Dad and Grandpa Kurtenbach bred and raised purebred Hampshires and Dad exhibited purebred Chester boars and sows for Joe and Leo Hubly as a young 4-Her. This instilled in him a love of swine production that made him want to continue in the business once he got older. Dad would raise pigs in many facets from buying feeder pigs to a 200-sow farrow to finish operation. No matter the scale of the operation raising showpigs was always apart of it. This is because the love and passion he had for showing pigs got passed on to us as we would continue to show pigs in 4-H and FFA. So when we got the chance to continue the joys associated with this industry we could not pass it up. We work everyday with the idea of giving today’s youth the same great experience we were lucky enough to have.
Mission Statement
At TKF Showpigs, we are dedicated to producing attractive yet productive showpigs and breeding stock to be used by junior and senior producers alike. Our goal is for these pigs to help move the pork industry forward and allow it to grow and expand in a healthy fashion.
